At Fiona Jane Studios, I believe the most meaningful photographs are the ones that celebrate genuine connection rather than perfect poses. Based in Gillitts, I photograph families throughout Durban, Hillcrest, Kloof, the Upper Highway, Umhlanga and Ballito, creating timeless heirloom portraits that tell your family's story beautifully.
Whether we meet outdoors or in my studio, my goal is simple: to create photographs that feel honest, natural and unmistakably yours.
MY APPROACH
For more than 25 years, I've learnt that the most meaningful photographs happen when families feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves.
Rather than focusing on perfect poses, I'll gently guide you while allowing plenty of space for natural interaction, laughter and quiet moments of connection. My aim is for your session to feel less like a photoshoot and more like quality time together, resulting in photographs that feel honest, timeless and uniquely yours.

STYLING YOUR SESSION
Soft, neutral colours photograph beautifully, but the most important thing is that your family feels comfortable and coordinated. I'll send you a styling guide with suggestions and colour palettes to help you choose outfits that suit your family and the location.

What if my children won't sit still?
Please don't worry. My sessions are designed around movement, play and genuine interaction. Some of my favourite photographs happen when children are simply being themselves.
When is the best time for outdoor photographs?
The hour before sunset and shortly after sunrise offer the most beautiful natural light, creating the soft, timeless look you see throughout my portfolio.
Can grandparents join us?
Absolutely. Multi-generational family sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate your family's story.
